Karajun "means" black wilderness "in Kazakh language.
The Kalajun Tourist Area is rich in natural and cultural resources, integrating grasslands, forests, canyons, snow capped mountains, rivers, lakes, and residential areas. It has been praised by experts from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations as one of the few high-quality natural grasslands in the world, and is the most biologically diverse and aesthetically valuable area of the "Tianshan Mountains" World Natural Heritage Site in Xinjiang. The snow capped peaks and canyons in the area shine brightly, while the forests and grasslands are intertwined. In spring and summer, five flowers bloom, with colorful hues. Under the reflection of the morning sun and sunset, the grassland lines are soft and distinct, forming unparalleled artistic paintings! In 2013, Karajun was selected as a World Natural Heritage Site by the United Nations as an important part of the "Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang" World Natural Heritage Site. In October 2016, it was rated as a national AAAAA level tourist attraction by the National Tourism Administration.
In March 2015, with the theme of "Redefining Grassland Landscape" in the March issue, China National Geographic systematically analyzed and described Kalajun's natural landscape resources and human resources with more than 20 pages. Throughout the land landscape, Kalajun gathered here and became the image spokesman of "China's peak natural beauty"!
